I don’t know anything about those vintage tape decks. Is it more of a design/build/nostalgia purchase? Apart from it being a good sounding deck anyway. Ive always loved Cassette & never used them for ultimate SQ. With all my vintage gear its the Romance in sound i adore. They only made that deck for one year 1976-1977. I know exactly what is wrong with it because its the same thing that happens to a handful of their decks back then. It might be a pig getting a new belt set but i can get a full idler wheel tyre set What attracts me with it is a lot of decks from then use those dreadful looking flip switches (see attached pic), as with AKAI & this TECHNICS they dont use them they uses proper press buttons & i also love cassette tapes that lay down flat. My ideal one would have been the TECHNICS 'RS-630US' but it has a plastic chassis which is a no no but for looks, giant VU's & those video recorder style controls o yes. So when people wonder why i want those coloured body SCOTCH & AGFA cassettes its because of the nostalgia, its of no importance if CrO2/Metal sound better I dont think people realise how much i am NOT into Hi-Fi anymore Below those horrid flip switches i hate you found on most decks back then. I don't mind the bar shape lever ones like what you found on the JVC 'JAS-11' providing the fascia cut out to match the shape like the 'JAS-11' is & not just a rectangular slot which is a cop out imho.

I was given a 676 relative years ago now - didn't keep it long. Couldn't take metal tape and playback responses were all over the shop back then pre proper standards internationally.
There was a three head single capstan Sony much later on, with Dolby S (TCK 611S?) that the mags wet themselves over (again, I forget the model) and that one really was superb and didn't record 'tearing sounding oboes' at the beginning of tapes as many other mechs did.

611 was a 90's machine. Metal tapes watch ya take me for All you need is Cr02 Regarding SQ if ya must The old TDK AD Type 1 were a far better tape than people gave them credit for, the bass sounded better than Cr02 to my ears.. I was always more than happy to use them.

Just bought an Atacama Equinox rack. 4 shelves all for £30. Cost me almost as much to get a cab home with it but still a bargain.
It’s got the smoked glass shelves but my mate has 4 spare green ones he’s happy to swap with me. I need another one now but only 3 shelves really needed.

The original SOUND ORGANISATION racks were great, Invisible welds. Only let down were the poor thin shelves.

One of these for the guitar. Thing is i have a Bone Nut already on mine which is the best material, However it does not march the white Knobs & Pick up covers which is bugging me so im removing the Bone nut & fitting this White one, Its a Graphite so should be fine. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/404656383437?var=674653105729

I don’t know anything about those vintage tape decks. Is it more of a design/build/nostalgia purchase? Yeah its a beauty.. I used to have a 1969 National Panasonic SA-73 amp that was built like a tank, only downside for audiophiles was it had slider controls, not a problem for me tho Good point for them tho is it does not use Capacitors in the output section Sounded great. Techy used to be a top notch brand back in the early days audio-heritage.jp/TECHNICS/amp/sa-73.html

I don’t have many left on my wish list, but an Airbus A350 1000 was one. It many airlines bought the 1000, but BA is probably the prettiest, so here it is. Just snapped one up tonight..

Just about the only Things I’d still want are a 1:200 series Concorde from Gemini Jets or Inflight, a Flybe Bombardier Q400 and a Loganair ERJ 145. I do like some 1960s/70s classics, so I will probably get a handful of those and then call it a completed collection. At that stage I will probably let my remaining1:400 series models go.

No, I’m not on any of the model collecting forums. I’m not very knowledgeable about the subject, especially compared to the sort of folk who are really into this stuff. I just like the looks and appreciate the build, detail and beautiful packaging.
