Been faffing moving the deck into the middle on the low level stand. Had to move the phono stage half way between amp and deck to make the wires reach, so not something I could leave in place.
Was it better? Well I think so. Trouble is you can’t just switch between the two so you’re relying on memory. I tried it in its original position first and I thought it just sounded a bit more quiet and composed when moved, I’ve put it back and it might just be marginally less composed, but still sounds great to me. Expectation bias? Well not really, because I’d probably expected more oomph, rather than more composure.
I do use the deck with lid up, so that probably creates some of the same issues as the corner, if I removed the lid, maybe the differences would’ve been greater. I hate saying someone was right when that means I was wrong, but fair play to Engy. He was right. If I had a space other than right between the speakers, I’d likely move the stack. Can’t say I’m unhappy with any aspect of what I hear as it is though.

What puzzles me is people obviously remove the dust cover cos they claim it interferes with the deck, yet they then leave the deck open for vibrations from their over loud music bouncing around the room to bounce all over the tonearm! ffks. I only removed mine cos i have not got the room at the back to lift the lid up or it would have stayed on the deck.. Ive done A/B with lid on & off deck, no difference whats so ever. If they leave the lid on & down surely it will encase the arm & cartridge in action to a large degree.
Never ever put a Deck in a corner.

I’m listening to Toy by Yello on vinyl.
It’s a brand new album and the vinyl is as good as I could’ve asked, it’s a heavy double album and really really quiet.
Life is never all positives though.
Firstly, it comes with those thick unlined paper sleeves that seem to cling to the vinyl. I really struggled to get the records out. They have gone straight into poly sleeves. It peeves me that you pay £30 for an album and the muppets that make it can’t even get the vinyl in suitable sleeves.
Second, it’s not that great a mastering. It’s inferior to the CD. Just too “silky” and rounded. It’s the first Yello recording I’ve heard on vinyl that’s been beaten by the CD. The latter is one of the best sounding albums I’ve ever heard though, so the vinyl is still very good. Disappointing though when I expected a better version than I already own.
I’m still glad I bought it though, as it’s a nice thing to own.

I only wish you could find a way of caturung vinyl condition on camera. The accepted condition ratings are almost never accurate. Some of my worst ones have been EX+ and NM.
One came with so much residue on it, you couldn’t call it black anymore.

Yeh utter liars they are. I used to use Discogs a lot but the sellers take the piss with lies & prices. E-Bay you can pick some cheap ones up but the fear is that the most time sellers are not dealers & do not have the correct mailers.. We have three used Record shops near us but they are shite.
One thing that bugs me a lot is when you buy a record say Near mint it comes with Pressure marks in the groove, generally near the Label. Cheap poor set up turntables. You cant hear them but you certainly can see them..
