I know a builder. I used to go to school with. I think I’ll ask him about it, but after I get the heating and bathroom sorted.

Still spraying those Neats lol. My bin has more empty spray cans than I can believe. All for boring textured black.

Out of nowhere it’s raining plus thunder and lightning. I only came in from the garage 10 mins ago and it was fine.

Bricks are about £1 each, a good bricky can lay about 500 bricks a day.. at a Guess a Bricky will charge about £250 a day & there is usually two men on a job like that so say a thousand bricks a day laid. Hell also probably have a young labourer mixing cement & passing brick. Soon adds up. Like i say its the roof that cost the money, then there's scaffolding another expensive thing.. Concrete blocks for inside are about £2.50 each. Wall cavity insulation can be expensive. Id do as much as you can radiators plumbing, window etc. I can imagine £20K tbh

I was up until it was almost daylight in order to get those Neats finished. Sadly they still need more work and they will never look good to me.
1. First things first. Fitting the tweeters with Hylosil, a tiny amount has just squeezed itself into the crack between the baffle and tweeter plate where it spoils the clean lines. My fault and easily removable as long as I take meticulous care in removing it. It’s black and so are the speakers, but it has a slight sheen and they are the mattest Matt I’ve ever one across.
2. The rings round the bass units and the tweeter plates look a slightly different hue of black.i used the same paint albeit a different can, but I will need to correct this. Again, not a biggie. Just an annoyance.
3. The real bummer is the Matt lacquer finish: For one thing, you can’t even look at it without it spoiling. If you touch it, you get the same marks you get when you touch stainless steel. It feels horrible too and has no silky feel at all. Being so Matt, it also makes the black texture finish look dirty, almost dusty.
On the positive side, the cabinets are now the way they should’ve been from the factory. I’ve done a thorough job on their imperfections. However with the now undimpled but still Tired-looking tweeter and a finish that is just plain unpleasant, I clearly need to make some cosmetic adjustments. Quite what those will be is unclear right now.

Getting better. I’ve corrected the driver surround colour mismatch, cleaned up the gasket and gone over the matt lacquer with paint. It needs more coats though. I’ve never had much luck with satin or matt spray lacquer. Satin always seems uneven and matt has always been horribly flat. I doubt I will dabble with matt or satin lacquer again.

Good job that Westie. Ive had loads of shite Lacquer. I thought the TAMIYA matt Lacquer was good but they are very tiny cans, after all they are for models

Thanks, André. I guess they look like Neats should. I will give them another cost just to finish them. I was even dreaming about them during the night lol.i guess you’d call that a “Neatmare”.

Yeah the Neats are all done but I’ve never played them. Same with the 852s. Just ornaments. I do have music playing now using a Micromega Leader I picked up because it needed rescuing. Sounds really engaging.
I also just bought the worst pair of HBS1 stands you will ever see unless you dredge a pair of from underwater. Sometimes I shock myself with the horror stories I rescue. By the time they’re blasted and powder coated, I will be lucky to break even, but sometimes you just “have to”.
