I had a notification from my bank about my 'product.' I don't have effin products with them, they're called ACCOUNTS!!! In my case, a forty plus year current account and two 'savings' accounts paying a pittance in interest (they're a much-needed reservoir, more than 'savings' as such).
We both have individual accounts which is fine (in different banks) but there is a joint account also which has been useful when moving money from one to the other and before we both used online banking, we could transfer money in and out of it and so on. I'm not saying we'd be devastated if it had to close, but why, in these days of computing, do they think we'd be better off without one?

I wonder if it’s something specific to the bank? I can’t find anything online in the news.

We get what we get and my fear is that too many people still look to and into themselves and their personal issues, not caring about the wider view in that helping to sort the wider view will help them in turn, if that makes sense.
Labour will find it very difficult indeed to begin to change things and my hope is that the champagne socialists st the top of the current Labour tree will be in touch enough with the disasters 'on the ground' to try to do something about it as soon as they can and are able (too many damned lawyers who've got up to that level).

It makes infinite sense, Dave. It’s exactly this attitude that Thatcher helped create and others have built on. The very idea of society was rejected by her. She famously said “there is no society, only individuals and families”. She genuinely believed that the “common good” was the sum of individual interests. How does that work when the rich and powerful can ensure their interests override everyone else’s? If there wasn’t already enough to furious with the Tories over, look at this, and remember the Tories are targeting disabled benefits instead of excess profits www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2018/aug/23/wait-for-a-wheelchair-children-nhs

More Tory Bashing from me. See link below. This is grossly irresponsible and it is also the very thing Sunak warned Truss about. It was only a couple of years ago that Boris raised NI to 12% to pay for the NHS. You’d have thought the £350 million a week he promised the NHS from Brexit would’ve covered it. NI has traditionally been seen as funding Srate Pension and the NHS. These cuts should tell you all you need to know about their plans for both www.theguardian.com/business/article/2024/may/21/imf-tells-uk-cut-taxes--hunt

41 years ago Neil Kinnick had the Tories summed up:
“I warn you not to be ordinary. I warn you not to be young. I warn you not to fall ill. I warn you not to get old.”
