I’ve never liked the Spanish tbh. Lazy, greedy, dishonest and unfriendly is my experience of them. I don’t holiday in Spain or the Canaries and have t done so in 20 years,

Just no need for ID cards as far as I can see. They would be massively unpopular and a waste of money. They wouldn’t control immigration either.

Hmm - we have driving licences as proof of ID already and I've had to use my fizzog and licence details for more than just voting rights at the poling station...
A pal of mine sends me articles of interest (both sides of the political fence) and although I very rarely go there of my own volition, this deeply telling one on 'Conservative Home' sums our past PMs from 2010 rather well I think.
A few articles on this site do seem to talk some sense even if it is a Tory one. No idea if you lot would agree, but worth a read anyway.

It’s a tragedy that he moved. The devil looks after his own. I watched a programme on all the failed assassination attempts on Hitler and there’s no way he should’ve escaped at least 3 or 4. Trump and Thatcher got away too, when both should’ve been gone.

Did not quite catch the labours manifesto kings speech but two good point i did hear is the re nationalisation of the Railways & another punch in the mouth for wealthy people: Taking away the Tax exemption for private school fees. It’s a pretty damn fine agenda for the first parliamentary term. I really thought Starmer would do far, far less. I’m very happy to be proved wrong.

Really worried about a couple of things though. One is house-building, as they're planning a thousand or more houses here where there's one road and rail line in and out, both chokka with container transport and the road has frequent accidents worse than just a few years ago, but of course further north in the county, one has snooty Woodbridge full of NIMBYs No work here either as the docks are becoming more and more automated, especially after the strikes a year or two back.. The second concern which Ms Reeves put a thumbs-up to when in opposition, is the development at Sizewell C and power distribution (not just the fate of A and maybe B when they're decommissioned - A might be now, I'm not sure). They want to lay pylons all across priceless scenic views to take power to London Tilbury, where 'we're' asking for an undersea power-line to go round the Essex coast that way. It'll cost more but be totally unobtrusive if done right.

The Germans lay most cables underground and we should follow suit. New housing does require infrastructure, which is one reason I support the New Towns plan. All good for growth. A concern I do have is about the quality of what is being built. I’d like to see higher specs on materials and construction, plus more space between homes.

I see the Tory nutters are hanging around Trump’s gigantic arse like flies. This guy was a disaster in power. He caused untold lasting damage to America with his lies of a rigged election and his attempts to stoke Ann insurrection. It speaks volumes that these three did so much damage to their own country. Now they are hoping to sidle up to this sociopath in the hope of reviving their own personal fortunes. Truss even had the cheek to complain that the Kings speech described her economy crashing budget as disastrous. My hatred for these four knows no bounds. share image

Here’s Truss feeding deep state conspiracy theories alongside criminal nutter Bannon. x.com/jemmaforte/status/1760980336958488676Here’s Farage wearing his master’s little hat And here’s Boris at the RNC talking to an empty room. Boris and Truss each get £115000:a year of taxpayers money to go do this shit. It ends stopping.

Trump loves chucking things up in the air and watching to see how it all lands. Germany is to halve money to Ukraine and no doubt Trump will ease off too once he's back in power (and I'm increasingly thinking he will be). Ukraine will probably have to lose a third to half its former territory but will that stop Putin?

It’s a frightening thought that he could be in charge of the USA again, not least because he and his party have removed almost all the guardrails.
