I’m still glued and loving every minute. I hope to see the Tories destroy themselves. I’m torn between getting someone less dangerous but more electable and someone who is a real threat, but will sink the bastards for twenty years. Steve Baker would do the latter nicely.
I’m no leftie either, btw. I just want some sensible, middle ground politician, but the reality is that the Tories moved massively to the right with Thatcher and apart from Major, they have continued that direction of travel.
My real hope is that David Miliband returns in the aftermath of Beergate. Or Rory Stewart somehow makes a comeback.

David M was the one who was shafted by his brother isn't he? We had hopes for him as well I recall. The thing is, Boris was an international figure (OK, seen as a bumbling buffoon perhaps). I don't think the government machine is up to a middle ground cross party governance as I reckon most of 'us' would prefer. It seems set in an aged left-right pendulum swing - Thatcher encouraging up and climbing prats to stamp on everyone on the way up the greasy pole and more recently, the Corbyn crowd to shower money at all of us from the money tree. As it is, we've had to borrow our way out of the Covid crisis and reporters have said the current government has acted more like Labour. No wonder Sunak wanted to reign it all in in stealth taxes. I do remember my income tax band around the time Thatcher came in was 29% or so and I was happy with that as long as the health and education sector was financed properly (the health service is a blasted money pit though, but I'm damned glad it's there...). Makes a change from bloody HiFi though and I remember someone said that political excesses in the UK always somehow seem to sort themselves back in balance, at least for a while before the next ego comes in to swing the pendulum again... P.S. I hope Mrs Boris has a nice wallpaper stripper handy to remove that hideous and very expensive wallpaper they put onto the Number 11 flat where they currently reside (wasn't that one of the first scandals of his tenure?). I bet the new people whomever they be, will go all magnolia or golden cream again

Yeah, David Miliband is still in the wings. He’s far from gone, whatever the public perception.
I hated Corbyn just as much as Thatcher. I’m at the stage now where I’m in favour of PR, albeit reluctantly.
It has massive cons in that you rely on bargaining to get anything done. That allows some minor parties to play games.
This is now outweighed by the reality that we end up with the polarisation that gives us leaders who pursue policies which are hated by 60-70% of the population.

I cannot stand Cons they deprive me of getting more out of the little income i have. I do not go to work to just pay bills & other shit they expect you to pay or there is zero insentive to work & this is the real reason im such a nasty bastard day in day out forced to buy second best all the time. I fucking hate being controlled & dictated to.
What grinds my gears apart from high energy & Petrol costs is that Social Care you pay in with your council Tax. That is the Gov job to finance that not us.

No blubbering like May did, im very dissapointed seen as he said it was the best job in the world LOL I love the way he blamed Tory MPs and called them a “herd”. No apologies, and no hint of him seeing his own part in his demise. What gets me is that the Tories now think it’s ok to make the country wait 3 months for a new leader. All so that the geriatric, blue-rinse twin-set brigade can have a postal vote. The Tories should be made to put the country first and let MPs choose a new leader in 24 hours. If they don’t do this, the press and TV should call them out on it. But of course we know they won’t. The only voice I’ve heard on this is John Major. He was a good bloke, or at least I thought he was until I found out he was shagging Edwina Currie. I have no time for anyone who has affairs. To me it’s unacceptable for anyone, let alone people running the country. It immediately shows them to be liars with no morality.

Our society is going further and further to the dogs. If you cheat, you should face consequences. She should’ve been the one to lose everything. I shun people who betray their partners. No time for them because it reveals who they really are.
The one thing that’s maddened me so much about Boris, is that he’s lowered personal standards of morality so far and remained as the leader of the country. He’s only been able to so this because the vast majority of Tory MPs have enabled him. They then preach to be the party of morality and they make me sick.
They only picked Boris because they knew his lies could win them power. You do a deal with the Devil: You should expect to end up in Hell.

I do cos cheating damages you for life in that you cannot help but to not fully trust your next partner. Been with this one about 23 years but its always in the back of my mind. I just cannot 100% settle. Ive had many bust ups & long periods of not talking when i see her speaking to another bloke.

Am I crazy or can you entertain this thought:
Boris pressured to quit so's to make room for a Putin-puppet who will steer country away from America and sending more aid to Ukraine.
(Or was Boris a puppet all along? - I don't know. Don't really follow your politics.

If Starmer gets a fixed penalty notice tomorrow or Monday, I will be convinced there is a conspiracy going on. Get rid of Boris, then de-stabilise the opposition, in order to bring in a more establishment-friendly Tory leader who is likely to try and renew his mandate by a snap election.
