MQA is total profiteering crap, 'folding' the digital info down to 13 bits (so FM radio noise floor*) and it's lossy too with expensive licences for the decoding stuff in dacs, which has surprised people who've gone deeper into it. Tidal have MQA'd all their streaming stuff apparently and Qobuz is the current 'best' lossless streaming service. Out of time and worthless... I gather there's an ehf noise penalty too but haven't studied the full extent of this technique.
P.S. I thought the Yes stuff was properly mastered in the mid noughties...
*Probably won't matter with the early analogue stuff, but worthless all the same!

Ive tried em all. I still have the first ever CD releases. the HDCD editions, The Jap SHM-CD, even the hybird SACD's. I found i was listening to the plain & simple 2003 Expanded/Re-mastered editions.

I heard from a pal that 'Topographic' was better with the 2003 era issue.

tbh i dont see the point in persuing CD as a media. Its had it day even though many will argue to the contrary. The next move should be offering affordable file/stream units for the Hi-Fi system which cost far too much for the everyday person to afford hence they reply on a laptop saying that i truly believe that the majority of people into digital dont even use a stereo these days.

No idea if the below would be suitable but here goes - This is cheap and European made - argonaudio.com/products/soloBluesound Node units do the streaming thing well, even if the dac-audio out part can be tech if not audiblybettered with an SMSL dac or something. I have a Chromecast Audio and stream to it from my phone! The Apple dongle attached to this laptop can feed an amp Aux input acceptably and with great sound. Cambridge and Yamaha seem to do some nice streaming stuff, Cambridge especially.

I was thinking something with a display so you can select songs without reverting to a monitor. Really has to be cheaper than say a HP notebook which is around £200. i doubt its possible. like this which is stupid money for what i personally see as oer priced junk www.ebay.co.uk/itm/115545379089?
