As your presiding spirit, the honorable Deacon presents:
MANFRED MANN'S EARTH BAND and WISHBONE ASH Staarting out good then producing whole series of sharn lps.
Weigh us down with the grinding monotony of it all.

Um let me just think for a millisecond. O that's it all of them. The best ones were the ones that packed up early doors before they made utter twits of themselves

Genesis? The simpler and more commercial the music became, no doubt the more money they made, especially after Hackett left.

I think the 1978 album AND THEN THERE WERE THREE that was the turning point. Side one still had that A TRICK OF THE TAIL sound where as side two was more the DUKE sound. However AND THEN THERE WERE THREE WIND & WUTHERING style should have preceded A TRICK OF THE TAIL, then AND THEN THERE WERE THREE would have been a flawless transition

I don't care for the Gabriel era so much, but Trick Of The Tail has some memorable songs for me, especially the title track and I can still enjoy it nigh on fifty years later... (is it really that bloody long ago?) of the later stuff nothing like their earlier work, I found the song 'Mama' a bit too close to home even if the circumstances weren't quite the same as Collins' original take on it.

TRICK is actually my fav GENESIS Album.

ELO's only good lp (sort of...) was "II". After that they were a horrible stink.
Fuck off ELO

I have a box set of ELO records bought in the 80's. terribly compressed production which I gather is a Geoff Lynne 'thing.' Not sure I've played them in decades to be honest...
