Old habits take a lot to get out of, I know this. I find it extremely hard. Being in to stereos just before CD came out & while CD never had available what i listen to till the early 90's even though had the best machines of the time, the format for me was obviously shelved for nearly a decade.. If im honest the then new CD thing never impressed me anyway & still does not now, I dont adapt to change well. Going back to Vinyl was a great feeling but suddenly dawned on me it was just not the same using reissued vinyl, they may as well just be CD with a smoke screen, They just were not the same as my original records in a lot of ways.
So Vinyl is history now, CD will always be a hate thing, im now left with Files that just wins out of convenience & space saving but ill never settle, its just something i could dump tomorrow and not loose sleep over but its the only option unless i won the lotto & a ticket back in time. Just got to always remember music is just there to listen to, Hi-Fi is just the tool to do the job.
One thing that will never change is using vintage Amplifiers, No way on earth will i use up to date amps However one thing that has changed is the messing about with everything that Audio Enthusiasts spend their time obsessing over, Snake Oil, Speaker placement, Room acoustics, Cables etc. All bullshit to me now & to be frank im embarrassed i ever wasted so much money & time in the past on it because it got me no where what so ever apart from learning an important lesson.

I can't bring myself to sell all my old stuff online, but I'm going to have to do this as I can't leave it to my better half to tackle as she hasn't a clue... Thing is, any money I raise from these sales will NOT be going into fresh gear as there's other domestic expenses in the house rearing their ugly heads. Yeah, once the Harbeths go, I'll have to look at sensibly priced active speakers or a good working set of noughties issue Beolab 4000's for shelves/stands or 6000's which work in corners (the Lab 8000's are a bit thumpy in anything other than firing across a long wall in a rectangular room). I'm happy to 'upgrade' my solid heavy CD player with a modern dac (nothing fancy like an RME - Denafrips? hell no!!! - but maybe a Schiit Modius or similar). Amp depends on what I have and I'd love a Schiit Kara preamp with their better phono stage (silly money for the likes of me but I can dream...). New ways eh? I've been chatting to westie about a gifted Technics HD81 micro system all connected together with ribbons (it started with a 70 but the amp is a bit weedy, not so the 81 which is basically the same but I think with larger transformer). It's really not bad but I haven't tried it with the Harbeths yet! Only thing I still can't get my old bonce around is streaming! I love my physical media too much

I’ve got Spotify Premium….agan. Since I paid the subscription and downloaded loads of stuff, I’ve spent the sum total of 30 mins listening…to an audiobook!
As soon as it’s all there and convenient, I just never want to listen. Streaming just isn’t “me”.

Id rather just preserve the machine i have with its littel faults.

While I'm thinking about it and reading westie talking about an audiobook - I got that Cybermen audiobook tin from eBay (rolleyes) and no doubt this will be loaded into the five disc changer on that mini system to play. Speakers up there are currently Diamond 7.2's (the SE one I was able to get locally for twenty five quid or so) which 'sound' great with it...
The above nonsense is a good test as to how much 'distortion' can we hear or not bother about. Not the thread to discuss it though...

Coming to a wall-of-speakers near you, and a 'listening lounge' if you're lucky www.richersounds.com/hi-fi/hi-fi-speakers/bookshelf-speakers.html?brand=8362They've increased in price AGAIN by the looks of things and latest versions of my boxes are £5295pr! let's hope these prices do older models like mine favours on the used market as it used to do with Naim before their streamers effed it apparently...
To tie in with the topic title, what age group shops in Richer? My probably incorrect view was teens looking for their first bargain student system to maybe late thirty year olds buying the odd bit and piece [edit - AV gear?]. Harbeth is seen more an oldies product even today, despite the XD versions sounding in fairness livelier and less 'warm/organic' than ever before, so it'll be interesting to see how their perceived customer bases interact, especially as I still don't seem much compatible source and powerful amp products except maybe MF.

It’s an odd one because it’s not really something you’d expect Richer Sounds to sell. Maybe they are wanting to tap the older market. A lot of folk have been shopping with a richer sounds for decades. Sure they will have started buying a student hifi, but the TV and Home Cinema market will have kept them as customers.
The prices are just downright silly, but so are many other companies’ products these days.

All i can say is when you think of Richer sounds you think of getting something cheap. Years ago it was either them or Hyper Fi. I used to use both these regular to buy temp gear while i was swapping the main stuff.
I used to love it because it taught me that some budget stuff was every bit on par with expensive stuff
