Most people’s rooms you see are very tidy. Sometimes though, you see a real pig-sty with crap everywhere. I’m not talking “heavily furnished” here: I mean the sort of places you’d get “Kim and Aggie” in to sort. There’s no way I could spend 5 minutes amongst mess, let alone enjoy music. I just couldn’t relax. I even struggle with wires on show as it is. Some of the rats nests you see really make me cringe. Anyone else feel the same? audiofederation.com/blog/2014/07/22/mike-fremers-listening-room-circa-2009

Those pics are from 2009. I've seen worse looking rooms.
Anyway, never liked the look of those Wilson Speakers.

I’ve seen worse too, but I couldn’t live in anything with 1% of tnat mess. It’s just not a harmonious space. I always look at the forum pics of peoples rooms and the pig-sty look is becoming more common. I’m not only shocked that folk can live like rats, but that they have no qualms in sharing their squalor online.

He's got a lot of records but that Elvis Costello is a repress. The original wasn't a gate fold. Shoddy.

I could go around every Charity shop near us & guarantee myself at least 300 LP' of any old crap for peanuts. Collections are made up of Choice Records that can take a long time to amass.

It's the MFSL Audiophile reissue. Actually good quality but not as good as a clean original Stiff Records pressing. For some reason I bought all those MFSL titles even though I have originals (some have the US track order). I would bet Fremer has all the originals as well. He's got stuff that's expensive / hard to get today (all the UK imports to the US, Beatles. Stones, Bowie etc). He has videos on Youtube showing a selection of the titles he has. Range of his collection is mind blowing and it's mostly quality stuff.

Why buy a reissue that's not as good as the original , if you have the original then ? Because he's bought 'pot luck' . If he's stocked up in bulk and bought out old junk collections like a house clearance firm he's bound to have ended up with a few collectables. Anyone would over time. The fact that he's showing off on YouTube tells me all I need to know. Not same as buying a record because you want to enjoy the music though is it ? I can even remember where I bought 99% of my records because I bought them one at a time and they mean something. Ont the other hand I've got thousands of pounds worth of engineering tools that I use for work and bought in bulk and they mean nowt to me.

I expect he doesn't pay for them in most cases. How do you know which is the best sounding unless you get both and play on your system? Often the audiophile reissues are better than originals.

Not found one yet. The so called 'audiophile ' ones are a complete marketing con in my opinion. Even my old Bowie 'dynaflex' records walk over the 180gm audiophile re issues.

Those Bowie reissues are major label digital knock offs. They aren't audiophile records with the exception of them using the 2012 AAA Ziggy Ray Staff cut. Most proper audiophile discs (which normally means AAA) are produced by specialists such as MFSL, Analog Productions and Speakers Corner. Rarely have had a real dud from those labels. Problem is there are labels calling records 'audiophile' because they are 180 gram.
