This forum takes an unusual and perhaps unique stance. It’s a reaction to the twin “diseases” that I feel are killing Hifi as a hobby: DIY and computer audio.
1. I’m sick of seeing classic kit devalued and turned into some grotesque Frankenstein-like creation by folks with no appreciation of the original and exponentially lower skill-sets than the original creators. There is a reason why commercial products were successful and why DIYers are sat at their kitchen table making stuff nobody will buy. Faithful and sensitive restorations of classic kit are naturally very welcome.
2. I’m also fed up with the cliques that form to hype “Mr average” DIY bodgers and their efforts. They are spoiling forums and their “products” make a lousy investment that will not fare well on the used market.....for good reason.
3. AFAIC computers and streaming = annoyance and frustration: The opposite of what I seek from my hifi and music. They also offer zero in terms of pride of ownership. Discussion of crappily made “pi-fi” junk Has polluted so many forums there is no need for it here. I’m not interested in seeing or hearing about it and I’m also completely against giving this junk oxygen.
If this means I end up as the only member amp poster here, then I’m happier with that than reading post after post about things that on,ya detract from appreciation of Hifi and high fidelity music reproduction.
If the above chimes with you, then you are very welcome. If not, there are so many other forums where you can hang out.
