A lot of people prefer KING CRIMSON debut album but for me probably the 2nd LP 'IN THE WAKE OF POSIDON' Not many people know this but it a collage of painings by Tammo de Jongh in 1967. The link however was Richard Gardeners 1970 book 'The Twelve Faces of Humankind'. The lyrics from the album link the Twelve Archetypes. Peter Sinfield. was a very clever songwriter & the album itself is also a very complex & clever album as was the next LP 'LIZARD'

One of the first ever LP's i bought that, Got it for couple of quid with FOGHAT debut LP & STRAWBS 'BURNING FOR YOU'. The latter cover was by the fantasy artist Pat Woodroofe. Another fav sleeve.

Obvious choice for me being an ELP fanboy. EMERSON, LAKE & PALMER 'BRAIN SALAD SURGEY'. Artwork by the late H.R.GIGER, one of the greatest artists of his time. He was responcible for the ALIEN on the RIDLEY SCOTT movies & The Batmobile on 'BATMAN FOREVER' etc. Will never be another artist like him thats for sure. The whole package of 'BSS' was a design great all of its own, especially the die-cut sleeve of which i call Piss Flap covers, other albums made to a simular design with opening flaps were ASH RA TEMPEL LP, Dr Z 'THREE PARTS TO MY SOUL', ALICE COOPER 'FROM THE INSIDE' & HAWKWIND - 'X IN SEARCH OF SPACE' to mention a few..
