One of my all time fav arms was Collin Strachan's Syrinx 'PU-2'.. Wonderful thing it was, cost me about a couple hundred quid which was not cheap back then.. If i ever saw another i would snap it up but id probably rework the Fingerlift/Amtube clamp as well as the arm cue mech into something less heath Robinson.. I did have an original 'LP-12' arm board they supplied which was made from Plywood. IMHO this arm did not suit the 'LP-12' tone wise but was awesome sounding on the LOGIC 'DM-101'.. There was an additional Mass ring you could buy, forget how much it was but that would fit onto the back of the bearing housing via tiny Grub screws but used to damage the arm finish. Those grub screws need either replacing with Nylon affairs of need some king or protective tips adding to the originals..

I’ve never seen or heard a Syrinx, they seem to Be absent from this part of the world. Johnnie at AO has kinda revived the design in the PU7 I think?
I can see these arms gaining in value once One of the “forum fashionistas” gets his hands on one. Then all the people who have ignored Andre for years will be paying daft money.....and probably won’t even be able to set an arm up properly.
Sorry, I’m getting kinda cynical about a lot of forum opinions these days. So often it just seems to be steered by a handful of folk whose opinions are sucked up and acted on blindly by their followers

LOGIC 'DATUM II'/'DATUM S'.. Bypassing the standard little original 'DATUM' that was a totally different arm although it was pleasant enough. The 'DATUM II' was in a different league, Beautiful looking arm, even more so was the 'DATUM S' that was an improved upgraded version, bearings etc that was also silver wired. These are very thin on the ground nowadays. Makes you wonder where all this equipment actually is or are these people that bought them in the days not as stupid as me & just kept onto them.. I actually got my 'DATUM S' fitted to an Ariston 'RD11 SUPERIOR' I think it was.

Last arm SYRINX did was the 'PU-3'. However there was a handful of 'PU-4' apparently but i never ever saw one.

I know next to nothing about turntables/tonearms. I'm fond of the SME Series IV & V. I also like the Rega R200.

The PU2 was incredibly unstable, especially on you know what turntable. PU3 was much nicer and that lives on in the AO PU7 I believe. May be over now, but the Tiger Paw Javelin was a lovely sounding arm easier to use than the ARO. Notts Analogue arms seem good and can be specified for other turntables (OK, I'm being boring ) A&D Unipivot from half a century ago. Mercury contact baths a major issue but with conventional wiring it may still offer something. (You've been) Hadcock - old ones badly finished and fell apart but it did perform well once properly assembled and set up. Silver Note tonearms - www.facebook.com/Silvernotearms/ - Unknown to me but apparently very good, not expensive and they do a nice one as a drop in replacement for Lenco arms, using the original fitments... - I hate it when a basically good deck is butchered out of ignorance and in most, the idler retraction links are removed along with most of the top plate
