Top 10 excuses of the hifi addict
1. I need a second system 2. I need a third, 4th, fifth system 3. I have a space on my rack 4. Good to have a spare....Just in case. 5. This one suits my current needs/room, but I’m planning a new listening space. 6. I like a bit of variety, so I have a subs bench. 7. This bit is great with Jazz but that bit I “need” for Rock. 8. This bit is great for playing loud, but that bit I “need” for late night listening. 9. This bit is needed for poorer recordings, whilst that bit is for my best ones. 10. I “need” to pay close attention on isolation, mains enhancements, fuses, expensive cables, grounding boxes or room tuning devices.
What this all means.
1-9. I’m addicted and it’s got nothing to do with listening to music. 10. All of the above and I don’t have anything better to fill my life with.

Hi-Fi nutz need a clinic its as simple as that. The comment that takes the crack pot award was when asking would you be prepared to listen to a virtually unlistenable recording or just use an amp with a tone control adding a bit of bass & treble? The answer was certainly no to tone controls Utter conditioned idiots beyond an comprehension. I love Hi-Fi but i do not want to associate with the idiots which sadly makes up the majority of Enthusiasts.

I’ve had amps with switchable tone controls and the difference switching out the added circuit makes is almost zero. And yet people would rather have no control of the sound other than to change their kit or wires, or not enjoy the sound? It’s mad. As you say, what do they do if the recording needs adjustment to sound good? Oh yeah, they suffer! All this stuff about flat frequency response misses the mark entirely anyway. Our rooms and our ears make sure whatever comes out isn’t received flat anyway. Besides it’s a tiny part of the whole equation. We all know when something sounds good to us. Nothing else should matter AFAIC, except for design and build quality.

Incidentally I’m lounging on the bed listening to iTunes on my iPad with some SR80s kitted out with G-Cush pads. And I’m loving it. Anyone wanting a second system should just get an iPad or tablet.

My only source on the Hi-Fi is Vinyl, if the missus is in with the TV on ill just listen to the laptop with Spotify & headphones.

You will find these people are never ever happy with the sound even though they claim they are & know exactly what they are doing, btw everyone else is wrong in their eyes. Audio Polymaths LOL Not

I can put money on it that a massive chunk of Hi-Fi loudmouths use Files more than vinyl or CD. All these that spend big money on Turntables & cratridges seldom use them.

I can’t believe how good files sound through headphones. I expect the same when I put them through speakers. The convenience of an iPad and enjoyable headphones is just insane. I really do like to own the content though. I can’t see me ever buying downloads.

I love Records & feel i actually own an album, FLAC/WAV files sound good to me & they are very convenient. Its CD's i have a big issue with. Ferkin waste of money & a machine that can pack up anytime. For what i listen to Spotify is perfectly fine.
This is a round of machines in no particular order, that broke down on me. All these machine were bought new when they came out & the reason i no longer buy new gear or modern gear. Absolutely no need for a CD player these days.
