Anyone find Genesis a hard band to draw a line with? Technically i would like to draw a line after 'Wind & Wuthering' being a progger but when you listen to '& Then there were Three' LP there is a lot of what you hear style wise from 'A Trick of the Tail'. The style is still there, surely you gotta draw a line at '& Then There Were Three" for heavens sake 1980 is the next album 'Duke', even tho it sounds like one of Phil collins early solo albums in places ie: "Please Don't Ask" you have to buy this LP for "Duchess" alone which is great.. I think what it was with them is they are so Consistent never moving a million miles away from their sound. Pink Floyd were like this. Something odd why ive always liked 'Duke' LP dunno what it is maybe cos it was recorded at the ABBA studios in Sweden Enough of me & my over analysis

Thing is with Genesis there are proggy tracks throughout their catalogue. Even mixed in with the later commercial stuff. Many would draw a line after Duke but I can listen to later albums in small doses. Probably the Self Titled has got the most listening of the later albums. I think Calling All Stations has had little listening but I didn't even own it till I bought the SACD 10 years ago. I even think 'We Can't Dance' is half OK if you ignore the title track.

Your Right Classic, Very listenable band no matter what era. Apart from the 1st LP 'Genesis to Revelation' which i hate with a passion. God ive tried but just does not work with me at all.
& why does 'Abacab' get the hate flag all the time! Nothing wrong with it.

I haven’t listened to Genesis since I was very young. Same with Pink Floyd. My brother who is 9 years older than me, was into both, as well as Yes and this influenced me early on. Probably just a case of me getting back into their music. I’m sure the time will come for that.

Classic mi owd sausage. Regarding the 'Abacab' 2016 Half speed master edition, do you know if it available in the four different colour scheme variations as per Bill smiths originals? I know its an embossed cover which is great.
Can't see to see a present UK/Europe Re-issue of 'Three Sides Live' Don't think there is one which is odd.

Abacab? As far as I know one version. No reissue of 3 sides live. I think mine is Canadian because UK has 4 sides live, missing some essential tracks.

Haven't played genesis for a long time now except Trick of the Tail, which was their first record I bought (I don't get on with the very early stuff I have to say). One song which is doing my head in this weekend due to garden-invaders is this one -
Wish I could 'knockatise' ours

I have both the Canada 12" and RSD versions of Spot The Pigeon. Think UK was a 7" EP?

Even though you dont like certain LP's theres always a track or two that makes you not help yourself... There is on single reason why i have DUKE & that is for "DUCHESS".
Might be cack to you matey like i think a lot of what you listen to is utter shite to me. Works both ways buddy its called personal choice.
