I reuse Amazon mailers so doesn't cost anything. However I've had one or two Amazon deliveries in soft bags which have had damage. At least easy to return. The thing that has me most pissed at moment is a couple faulty pressings from Acoustic Sounds in USA. They will provide replacement discs no trouble but because of the UK VAT and them not registered yet have to spend another £135 ($190) as they will only send them with another order. The records in question are worth over $100 plus import charges. That means spending $190 plus around $50 postage plus duty. I knew the policy but previous order had to be only $49 I think which is less than one 45 rpm double Analog Productions title. Finding titles I actually want that aren't back ordered adds to the frustration. Oh, that really is a bummer. Andre has mentioned modern pressings not being all that great, but I haven’t had an issue yet. Sounds like it’s only a matter of time.

Some new pressings sound great & some dont, same with original pressings, some are dull as dishwater some are better than reissues. Lucky the bands New pressing ive bought are all good.

I bought three LP's from E-Bay this year,Grilled each seller for close up sleeve photos etc. I posted those mailer to each seller. Cost me £3.50 to send each but its that peace of mind.

Got 5 brand new ones on the way. I will be doing exactly the same for the records I want. Pointless legislating for idiots, we may as well bypass them and provide the packing.

You cannot believe a word they say. Ask them for pictures of the sleeve especially corners prior to packing. There is no excuse then, they should arrive just how the pictures look. Also tell them to keep the record in its inner sleev but place on the outside of the cover or if its a Gatefold put the record inside the gatefold with the inner opening to the top. If its a picture inner ask kindly if he has a spare plain inner to put the record in, leaving the picture inner in the main cover for protection, all this is so the record does not split thru the sleeve in transit & being really cheeky ask if he has a spare poly sleeve to put them in LOL.

So the saga of the damaged record mailer had another twist today. The seller received it back……with no record inside! A real “Victor Meldrew” moment. I used the same mailer and used clear tape to re-deal. On reflection I could’ve done a more robust job, but it did arrive still sealed….or is that re-sealed?
The seller was lovely. Not once did he suggest I was pulling a fast one, which counted for a lot. I did send him screenshots of my replacement purchase and also my messages to the new seller asking about mailers before buying.
eBay were nice too, but all they could do was refund me in full and leave the seller hung out to dry. They did say he could try to claim from Royal Mail and if he got nowhere, could always appeal their decision, but not before he had exhausted the Royal Mail option.
Having claimed from Royal Mail, I know what a lying bunch of thieves they are. They damaged the record, they stole the returned record and then they’d give the seller a runaround before denying responsibility. That wasn’t going to fly.
I took a different route and sent the seller half the refunded amount. He was chuffed that someone would do that, I got half my money back and I now have a perfect copy from another seller, delivered today!
It’s maybe not a win/win but I do feel like it was the best available outcome given the circumstances.

Westie, Believe me i cannot wait to be finished buying records. I cannot think of anything worse than buying them mail order.
Just had a look at my list that i said that would be it. Ive even got shut of a few titles that im short of a complete band discography to make it more quicker. Just 81 LP's in all. The LP's with Asterisk are the ones im short of. Universal personally gave me an indication in so many words that the VAN DER GRAAF albums were getting a re-issue but if not i wont bother, other than those just six more nightmares to go.
All the other albums i want shall transfer to Audio cassette from CD because i will not play them much & the last thing i want is a bigger collection.
The list comprises of all brand new re-issue with exception to handful that will ofc get replaced when re-issue surface.
