Back in the days where records & Audio Cassettes were the only format. You knew the last track of side one. With CD's the two side are obviously as one. This can sound very odd with some album as can be kinda confusing, just does not sound right as one. Like wise going back to Vinyl after years of CD listening getting use to the integrated sides is strange.
ofc this is not an issue for people brought up in the digital age.

I still get caught out with this stuff. I’m sat listening and suddenly a record ends. I’m so used to the Cd version I’m not ready. One thing I kinda miss is the last track ballad so as not to give too much stress to a stylus already well away from the null point

Still odd to me listening to something like ELP 'Brain Salad Surgery' on CD playing all the way thru.
