**.....with the very rare exception of collectable investment-rated albums, and those with an irrational sentimental value.
I've really just gone past the point of supporting vinyl issues, and a lot of the threads and posts on here and elsewhere back that up.
* EVERY issue and re-issue is drawn from a digital source. Why buy an inferior format that's already a generation further away from the master? * The QC in all steps of the vinyl production process is shit. * If, miraculously, a pristine vinyl issue gets through, Hermes or your uber-friendly Post Office will ensure that it get's fucked-up in some way. * CD's are super-cheap in comparison, and more readily available. * CD's have a broader dynamic range than vinyl. Fact. * In essence, vinyl is a piss-poor 12" slab of wannabe CD requiring surface-contact playback, thus producing surface-noise output. * Pound for pound, vinyl set-up's just can't hope to compete SQ-wise with a good CD Transport and DAC combination.
So....what's the point?

Ey up stranger. Its the actual owning of a Record that keeps me going. However its getting harder to buy records due to greedy outlets & virtually no quality control. As i've said already i have a short list which is pretty much done now, rest i suppose will be CD's these are albums that will never see re-issue on vinyl anyway.
Im in the middle of turbo charging a REGA based Turntable with high quality parts but i don't expect much of a difference in sound from the shitty ROTEL deck im using just more pitch reliable. However i don't listen to music half as much as i used to these days so wont loose much sleep if i never used a deck again cos i have on CD what i have on Vinyl anyway, however i've always been afraid to use a CD player too much because Lasers do pack up early which leads to scrapping the CDP or fitting a chinese sourced replacement which you may as well throw your money away as to.
