I find it difficult to get into some of this ancient stuff. the recordings were often sh*t, the music a template for better stuff that followed and I've really tried hard with Pawn Hearts for example... Buying this stuff on vinyl? Well, you know my views on that (and I do appreciate the larger easier-to-read vinyl jackets over a CD booklet) but if you prefer to handle a vinyl disc, well ok I love Manuel Gottsching's work but the first Ashra Tempel album is a sonic mess and the experimental tracks just don't jive at all with me (I've never used 'chemical medication' apart from alcohol, so maybe you need to be stoned to 'get' what these kids were doing back then). Well its as simple as this: the music these bands made later on was tripe compared to early material & im centainly not omitting the good stuff over recordings in which are not bad anyway, im not sure where you get from tbh! Dave it seems like the same oldHi-Fi mentality of id rather listen to a tone lacking Recording before even dreaming of using tone controls. VDGG back in the early 70's even though they were not popular in their own cuntry were very serious clobber together with Crimson of the same era. But back to the music, You either understand this music or you don't. Ill just let you know that 'Pawn Hearts' is one of the very best albims of the genre. You & i are totally worlds apart. Im into music 100% but Hi-Fi na, i like a good stereo & but the bollox bores the tits off me, Looks, Build, Finish, practicality, Vintage over ultimate sound.

HYou think I feel I own a decent HiFi system? Herself glared at the CD's again today and again asked if I needed them all (LP's are in the garage and they're OK there packed in the way they are). One day I said, I'd like to play them again, but it's looking more and more unlikely. I'll try to give Pawn Hearts (on original vinyl) another listen, but I ain't holding out much hope I'm afraid

If I didn’t know my mate, I’d think we are all suffering from the inevitable March of Father Time, and losing interest due to age. The thing is, he’s now 77 and still has the same level of interest and buying activity that he has when I met him 35 years ago. I live in hope of my enthusiasm returning, but it’s looking less and less likely.

My lack dedication is down to confusion ie: money & just lack of time in general. You fucked big style without money because it totally impedes you in many way, even forces you into directions you dont want to go.

The paper texture is wrong & so is the colour Proper mailer and records inside wrapped in bubble wrap. Never had anything from them that arrived damaged. The covers aren't ever going to be exactly like originals if Universal / Virgin are involved. The Pink Scroll labels are darker than originals and they have bar codes printed on the covers. Later could have been addressed by bar code stickers on the shrink (as is the case with some recent reissues).

I understand that but when they print what they have on the shrink label you want as near as. Im not too bothered tho they are good enough, nothings of quality these days so you get what you can get with not too higher expectations.
I think the ones that have Bar code on the stickers maybe pressing that are also intended being marketed in the USA aswell as europe.

Only just got around to trying these latest VDGG Pressings. 'THE LEAST WE CAN DO' ive just had on, thats gonna have to be replaced, ive never heard such a scruffy sounding pressing, crackles bangs & scrapes, the Styli even clip the label on run out i had to jump out my chair as if id shit myself.
One thing i noticed. They are no way as good as the original Scrolls regarding Bass.

I've had to exchange about half the GZ pressed vinyl I've purchased over the last couple of years. MPO in France are not that much better. Optimal seem to be improving. Most consistent pressings are produced by Vinyl Factory in UK but not much work done for major labels these days.

My god just played 'PAWN HEARTS' totally do not want these issues in my collection. Some one has hacked the channel balance up at the start of "LEMMINGS" stupid how it starts quiet in the right channel then burst out in the right, even too late. Never mind the ticks & crackles the way thru
The 70's Top Hatter Re-issues or even the German Philips pressings will do as replacements just need to seek minters.
Angry is an understatement.
