Not peanuts but compared with current hi-fi prices it's almost budget. To be fair IAG have done a lot to produce 'affordable' hi-fi. Original 770 was not a cheap speaker. Probably close to the price used examples now sell for? Multiply £250 by 5 and you arrive at a realistic new price. I can't think of any UK built speaker that costs under a grand as all the cheaper ranges are made in China now. If these are marketed at £999 it will be a pleasant surprise.

I wonder if this signals the beginning of a renaissance for the likes of the 733 and 753 Freedom models?

I’m just happy to see that stand mount speakers made in Britain are back. I don’t tend to like floorstanders and I won’t buy Chinese.

I enjoyed that interview too. My interest is piqued.....I wonder if I'll be able to get a loan of a pair?

I really do like the looks of these and they appear well built. I just wish they’d announce a price.

These seem quite an improvement over the original speakers. Certainly not just an improved Linton as some have speculated. Price £3,5K including the stands which remind me of the old Heybrook models.

That market is very small now and these plus the Epos 14 resurrection are really trading on old reputations - I got excited about the ES14 because of my associations with the original and knowing Robin quite well back then. A few oldies like me will cock an ear to them I'm sure, but the lack of obvious dispersion tuning leaves a large issue for me, as a flat on-axis frequency response really isn't enough and it's how the speaker drives the room (or not in some cases) which really dominates I feel.

Dave Peter Knows what hs doing if he believed it didnt sound right im sure he wouldnt have spent so much in Development. I dont want to sound off but one of my pet hates is Enthusiast trying to know better than a highly respected Loudspeaker engineer.

I'm a bit more (or was once) than *just* an 'enthusiast Andr'e - and I do respect Peter Comeau as I knew him well also in his Heybrook days! It's just that it could have looked like any old tallish stand speaker or even a smaller 'tower type' but they chose to style it like a forty year olkd model for nostalgic reasons to give it a chance.

What I have seen of that Epos is that it is likely nothing like the original. At least this one appears to have taken the design to another level. it's rather pricey but if you consider stands like those are being sold for £500 it is a good deal cheaper to the nearest Harbeth ( C7ES-3 XD). I'm also confident these are better sounding speakers. They are a good deal more than I expected however coming from IAG. Maybe will get revivals of the smaller models that were in the same range if these are a success. If they are better than Klipsch Classic models, KLH5 and JBL L100 they will appear good value to many buyers.

Good job but the voice & top end especially Piano keys are too bright for me. To me they are detailed but don't display excessive brightness like KEF and Bowers and Wilkins models tend to. I think they are supposed to balance resolution and musicality.

But that may not all be down to the speaker.

LOL They are suppose to look like the old '770', Just like companies such as Roland & Korg making old models again with a modern twist.. The top & bottom is People will love them & the looks, they will sell & be respected. Jobs done. Pulling pieces out of designs for the sake of being petty is bollox imho.
