Too smooth this out a bit, i cannot stand those early BEATLES LP's. "Sgt PEPPERS" is where i work from. After all that is where the influence stems from with a lot. So then you can kinda say that im only a fan of four true studio LP's cos as you know "YELLOW SUBMARINE" was a soundtrack that did have a few older tunes but "NORTHERN SONG" is important to me as well as the whole of side two Classical piece & lastly "MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR" wasn't really an LP till the Americans made one up with added singles. its was just a double EP set over here. The original album was on import.

If it can contrast it with the Prog stuff I’ve heard. I hate that stuff with a passion. It does my head in…..BUT……I can hear complexity and musicianship. I realise there’s stuff going on that might be unpalatable to me but which has something to it. I don’t hear any of that with The Beatles. It just sounds bad. I heard the same sound again when Oasis appeared.

I heard the same sound again when Oasis appeared. As i keep saying to Baggs majority of Prog is utter tripe to my ears as the fab four maybe to you.. You can get introduced to prog from wrong angle & get that bad impression straight away. Pick the wrong bands & your on a deffo negative view. I listen to a lot of Prog stuff for many years & like a revelation suddenly dawned on me it was utter crap. Now i just settle for shall we say the more successful obvious candidates but i do buy their non prog later stuff that's like an escape from prog for me. Things like BLACK SABBATH, LED ZEP & DEEP PURPLE are also my escapes. THE BEATLES were basically a commercial pop band that were so successful because of that, four good looking lads that women melted over, how could they not be successful with an astronomical back catalogue of hit singles to boot. But regarding the early stuff i fully understand why you dislike them so much.
