That might be even funnier! Part of me wonders if Coffey will be employable at this time, or whether she'll lie low (her Mother just passed away, so she'll be on her own in the home in Hampshire - Andover?) until an election possibility arises again. Whether she'll rock up here again come next time I really don't know.

I know I keep referring to Guardian articles, but some aren't so leftie and many are critical of the new Labour government too, which is a change from the Telegraph's almost hysteria.. This last year has seen so many 'empty with no onward chain' houses for sale here, it cannot all be the estate sales of deceased owners selling up. And there's an ongoing fight to prevent more building of tat-boxes here (our son's old high school site is having barrack-style 'stylish' apartments and small homes built, none with vehicular access and they're building right to the pavement rather than setting them back a bit. We call it 'HMP Deben'

Sometimes a comparative rise in values can spark a glut of properties for sale. People are always looking at what else they can have for the money. I was like that for years but I really never want to move again.
There’s nothing planned nearby that could be making people move, is there? Incinerators, other large developments, prisons etc can get people up in arms and selling up.

We have some estates going up, two largely unwanted and no work nearby as the docks increasingly automates (the fairly recent strikes a couple of years back made up their minds to increase automation as in The Netherlands' equivalent docks). There's intention to build over a thousand more homes around here and there's uproar. Whether Raynor's determination will win-out I don't know, but it's so sad to see them building beyond the northern boundary. Mind you, to see what's happening around Chelmsford is simply awful, as the entire northern boundary has increased by half a mile at least with solid building works.

That happened up the road from me. I bought there because the properties just hadn’t recovered value after the 2008 crash whilst everywhere else had. When prices caught up, I sold. When I ended up with that cardboard bungalow, I really wished I hadn’t, but I did well on that one and got this place so it all turned out well. I was lucky though because when you are happy somewhere, it’s a big risk rolling the dice on a move.
I’m sure Dave will never countenance buying a new-ish build, but I’d urge anyone to avoid them. They have no redeeming qualities.
