I’m not sure at all if I understand what happened. Was it ever gone? As much as I know, is that younger folk seemed to find it trendy, but that can’t explain the resurgence in pressings of older music.
I’m delighted it has happened, no matter why. I really hope CD fails to die in the same way. I love the amount of cheap CDs out there and I plan on taking advantage of that and trying more stuff.

1. DJ's required 12" singles so on that front Vinyl never died.
2. Read between the line with the industry & LP's.
I personally dont give a flying fuck what happens to format, i have what i want which will allow me to walk away from it all.

It didn't die. Always were a fair number of vinyl releases of indie and alternative rock plus a trickle of reissues. Since early 90s a number of audiophile labels started up which kept a selection of Jazz and classical releases available as well as Classic Rock. From around 2003 it seems more titles got pressed on vinyl and it kept increasing. Why is not obvious but bad brick walled CD mastering and people wanting a physical product as an alternative to streaming have a lot to do with it. Also don't ignore the vast number of buyers who don't even play vinyl they purchase, hence the provision of download cards. I think there is a sizeable collectors market and people trying to make money out of inflated prices for limited editions on the secondary market.

Depeche Mode have always released there albums on Vinyl from the original release. From the start of the 80's all the way up to present.
Vinyl did become more of a specialist thing while CD ruled the roost tho. Not just because people are deaf.
The only thing im glad that Vinyl became more mainstream again is i can get a perfectly mint copy of the record i want & also i dont have to pay greedy prices dealers want to get records, where as before i was forced to buy the CD to get a cheap priced album i wanted & for one i hate being dictated to.
The industry does need to look more into releasing Obscure albums that are very close to the original so that people can indeed afford to buy them. I think that just because something originally sold in very small numbers because they didnt like or they were badly promoted 50 years ago they wont sell these days but they are so wrong. Peoples taste in music has changed. I do think that the accuracy in reproduction of those old obscures is key to sales, also rid those Bootleggers in the process that seem to concentrate on such issues.

I’m still short of 3 I want. Yello have went back and released the albums that went to CD only, but Touch Yello is a rarity and wasn’t re-released. I also want Convergence by Malia and Boris Blank. Finally, Hotel by Moby.
I will need to score a bargain find or come to terms with paying daft money for them, unless they re-press.

Tell me about it, I very much doubt i will part with £80-100 for that LED ZEP set. What's putting me off the most is its not as it was originally released but jumbled up & extended. The type of bollox you get on CD's. Obsessive fans go for that malarky.
