Makes no odds to me now but it had to be GARRARD '401'/SME '3009 S2,Imp/SHURE 'M95ED'/SME '2000'. No mods just arm re-wire. If i ever revisited in which i wont it would be the older '3009, Series II' id fit.
This combo just had a sound that i could never get with anything else.

I think it would likely be a Xerxes with a fully modded RB300 and DL103R but then my tastes today might prefer a more gentle presentation. If I was allowed to choose a deck I didn’t own, I think I’d go for an Oracle Alexandria MK4 with SME345 and OC9. It was just so liquid and fluent. Maximum enjoyment. Probably the best sonically was Voyd Reference with Helius Orion and Goldring Eroica. I’d still pick the Oracle over it though as it made better music.

Well I'm no turntable expert. But I enjoyed hearing my Dad's Thornes TD160 B MKII, with SME Series III and Denon D-160.

NAS Mentor with arm and Decca Microscanner. Beat the pants off everything else at the time unless it was a lavish expensive oil rig type. Should never have flogged it but I had a mortgage to pay and a Citroen money-pit to drive at the time.
