The moneyed oligarchs pound it into your head: that your lp wantlist is a fruitless pipedream. Worse yet, its HOPE. Its a joke.
.....
Oh yeah...again, regards lp collecting, you will never catch a wealthy man spilling info to a music site. If he participates at all ,its to flash piccy of his impossible records.

Remember there is a load of flippers jumping on the bandwagon in the last two years. Grab every limited edition as soon as announced including those £400 a pop Electric Recording Company titles. You can't find any Mo-fi back catalogue in stock these days or other US imports. Mint used vinyl has always been hard to find and prices have kept pace for collectables. What is suspicious is that Discogs listings always exceed the max price previously sold. You can still get many less popular titles for affordable prices but £10 to £20 rather than £5 or under. Now even crappy coloured 'limited' reissues going for stupid prices.

I hate using Discogs, I can safely say that ever single seller ive used has been a liar. The worse worse thing to have ever happened was Record Collector standard grading. Not only is it reducl'arse It just gets manipulated by sellers. Hows about just explaining the condition in plain simple english? no cos certain areas can get white washed away. I'll admit that one of the main reasons i bought mainly New records is because buying used records is literally a minefield. ofc im not happy with new records they nothing short of shit but these is nothing else i can do

I haven't fared too badly with Discogs and on most occasions were I got a duff disc they promptly refunded. However I don't buy a lot of titles from there as I only occasionally buy used these days. Only buy nr mint and from buyers with 100% feedback. If less than 100% there is likely an issue because you only get negative if product is faulty and/or they don't refund without a fuss. Generally you get fairly accurate grading from online or physical record stores (actual business sellers). It would help if they had a facility for pictures like Ebay. Record collector grading is based on sound and visuals which most sellers don't seem to understand and if they do it's too time consuming when selling a lot of titles. However you expect care to be taken with more valuable and rare records.

The only downside with E-Bay, even though you can drop on some hard to get records. The sellars are mostly private & don't have correct mailers, they dont give a crap about how they post or make up something that is generally not fit for purpose. When it comes to damage in the post it then turns sour.
