Before all this Covid malarky we used to travel around the country all the time, popped in as many Record shops as we could but very thin on the ground were shops that just sold used records, Majority were independant new Records & CD shops. I don't know what it is but even though records are suppose to be back in vogue its nowhere near what it was like years ago. The Records back in vogue thing is pretty much a fad imho, always said this. So is it because Records are not really back in fashion in the eyes of proper used records shops or do you think its that people dare not carry huge stocks of used records or maybe that they just cannot get hold of them, which leads to a whole different topic that is: were people actually not so stupid as to have originally sold all their recors & bought CD back in the day? Actually the only reason i go into used records shops for is basically for 7" singles, i get a massive kick out of singles for some reason. We have a small used record store about 10 mins down the road that also sells used Hi-Fi .Might pop in weeekend for a quick gander www.restameta.com/GB/Rotherham/611822372669829/Revolution-Records-and-Coffee

What happened is many used record shops closed in the early 00's just before records took off again. Also people started selling on Ebay and then Discogs. I've noticed a few new shops pop up that do used vinyl records but I doubt with rent and rates it's a good business proposition. When I lived in the Midlands all the used shops I frequented from Leicester to Birmingham closed down. Only one I can think off in Brum that I know is still going is The Diskery (which is pretty renowned). There are a few scattered around Bristol and Somerset still.

Covid has pretty much killed all my physical shopping. I just buy online now.

Classic: I remember Diskery, Vinyl Tap, Closest good shop from us was Record Collector Sheffield which is still going. There was a great Record Shop in Skegness called Roys Emporium which was a great shop, sadly glosed down many years ago.
The online thing for me is an utter nightmare.
