Skinny decks just don’t do it for me. Even Regas are a step too far.

The MoFi deck had a very cheap feel to me and the UK price didn't help really. I'm sure it's fine with its AT derived cartridge.
I still think an SL100C at half to two thirds the price with 95SH stylus or a 540 cartridge would be better and perhaps longer lasting as well if the ancestors are anything to go by... Mainstream dealers probably won't have access to the Techie though and of course the margins probably wouldn't be as high either.

I Think you can only buy the SL100C through Amazon in the UK.

Personally, I don’t think I could live with the build of an SL100C, but that’s just me. Then again, I’d be very unlikely to buy new. You can simply get a while other level of build and performance by buying used.
If I did have to buy new, it would likely be a Tecnodec..

Is the SL100c build inferior to the earlier techie decks then? Just seen a rave review of my Dual 701 in an old 1974 HFN, so I'm happy Bought it used in Darlington for fifty quid in 1989. Good investment I think.

Transcriptor was the original flat deck.
That Roksan 'Attessa' looks ok.

TD1500? They're having a laugh really and it's not as elegant as the original either.... Makes the 150mk2 a bargain if it's fettled right.

The problem most of all i have with both the TD150 & TD160 + its variations is the Motors, Such an hardship getting that platter up to speed. Compare it to say a GL75 & its heavy platter that gets upto speed no shit, You know why, cos its got a motor that can do it. Nudging a TD platter to help start up is just crap never mind fingering the alloy.. Why i was a big fan of the old JA Michell decks with the outter platter drive upto full speed as speedy as a Direct Drive TT.

My TD160 comes to speed sharply enough, the 150 and mk1 125 didn't have the clutches. Lencos where eejits adjust speed without or not being able to turn off (G99) suffer idler slip after a while and the platter no longer 'kicks up to speed' as the ones with speed 'click stops' do... Anyway, I have a 'tyre' for mine, which disguises the faded platter finish nicely Easy to grip to push-start too (which I did on my TD125 - I really liked that, no bass bloat as other springy decks have).

First thing you do is sort the idler wheels out. Even TD160 aint fast enough start for me. I have this paranoia where i think the motor is stressing.
As you may havegathered by now i have a thing about long term unreliability & go to great lengths to stop this happening. Things like slow start up smak of long term unreliability

My 701 takes a few seconds to reach speed. Been like it for nearly fifty years now.... I don't know if the current techie 1200s are as rapid as the old quartz model was, but that'd sort ya
