FFS Andr'e!!!!!
Listen up and listen GOOD!
I have an original UK Virgin issue of Phaedra - THE VERY SAME PHYSICAL RECORD THAT BLEW MY HEAD OFF BACK IN WHITSUN 1974 (I thought it was the Easter break, but not sure it was released then). My dear deceased friend gave me this very copy as it meant so much to me.
I PROMISE you the digital releases sound SIGNIFICANTLY clearer and with the 'definitive' ones some years back, a nasty edit or glitch was removed in the main piece before the climax starts to happen (oo-er missus). Latest issues put the proper ending on the title track (Jerome running around and shouting) rather than the beginning of the next one.
Take it or leave it mate, sorry to shout...

I have the Hades Box set. Although it maybe High Resolution with details never heard before but i also remember owning a 1st issue on Vinyl, Everything i hear on that Box set edition which is the same as the regular edition does not sound right, The Body to the music, the texture etc is missing leaving me with a colder experience than im used to wit the old Record.. The mind has a fantastic memory for sound & feeling.

Clarity isn't everything. I think some people relate 'hi fi' purely to clarity. A mistake in my view. I'd rather have realism and soul.

Clarity & High Resolution are what plays games with people. They think cos they hear that it is top sound. When i talk to the Wife or anyone else, i do not hear them replying to me in false bright High Resolution sound.

I get sick to the back teeth of people selling records that think its all ok to post them out with nothing but bubble wrap. They destroyed the sleeve before it even sees the sorting office.

Done quite well this week. The three outta the six i bought have arrived & im happy with them, not a single mark on the playing surfaces. You can only expect no better than EX condition sleeves of old 70's issues these days but i can live with that not that i have any option..

Another Ding Dong today with a seller answering important questions in monotone replies. I cant stand gits that try pulling the wool over my eyes with their crap

Unless it's an artist I specifically collect, or it's an RSD, Speakers Corner or Mofi release, I'm done with record buying.....especially second-hand. It's a ferking mugs game.
Any pre-digital-era albums that I still want are bought on Japanese Mini LP/CD format. At least you know what you're getting, and there's no nasty surprises in store.
As for more-modern, contemporary releases.....why buy the vinyl version over CD? You're at least one generation further away from the masters, FFS.

Thing is Steve its not just the music with record buying with me its also the Packet construction & extras that only the early pressings had. Ive had a good run with luck upto yet you just have to be carefully with lairs..
This morning was my chance to bid for a mega early pressing of a 1st issue YES - CLOSE TO THE EDGE in very nice condition. But left it cos the seller made it quite clear he was not going to put card stiffeners in with the record. I knew it was gonna be £30 down the drain. See they dont give a fuc what happens to the record when they hand it to the post office clerk.
I refuse to go with the record grading bull shit that is used by dealers & sellers alike as a smoke screen.
I ask simple questions prior to bidding
1. Any marks or scratches at all on the Record? 2. Matrix numbers? 3. Do you use those specially designed card Record mailers? 4. Do you use card stiffeners in the mailers?
When won
1. Please keep the record in its inner protective sleeve but place it between the gate fold or on the outside of a single sleeve as to avoid split thru in transit.
If its a lyric inner bag i cheekly ask if they have a spare plain inner back, leave the lyric bag in the packet.

What im getting very tired of is sellers using the vast stock in the warehouse bull shit. Theres no warehouses & a lot even have the stock besides them in a spare room or something you know like sellers that make out they are a company but nothing but a two bit one man band working from home LOL.
The day a seller is honest ill eat my hat, the prime objective is selling that record & sadly not being honest is the route they always take.
These day i give them the unlimatum, make sure its perfect before sending or it will be returned straight away. As for packing, theres mailers that will pretty much ensure a sucessful delivery & theres mailers that are guarenteed to be a failure, it does not take a brain surgeon to see which is which. this is their choice ofc.. same applies tho it goes back, it was up to them to offer insurance.
I pay good money for a brand new item that is perfect when leaving the manufacturer, i can easily buy second hand if it didnt want that. The reason im swapping out most my LP's is they are not in perfect condition cover wise.
Not only an OCD issue but i want these to be worth money when im gone, Like brand new fetches a lot more than knocked/defective condition LP's. Same with anything.

I had another idiot this morning. You know independant Record shop moan about bug companies like Amaon yet they are their own worse enemy.
Asked if this seller used Envolope style or wrap around mailers?
I got this reply. Why the hell should i need to put a note in to take extra care, this should go without saying. All i can see is they are cheap shit mailers stuffed with Card stiffners that are absolutely no use nor ornament. This is exactly why i use Amazon if i can
oversize dent proof mailers - had very little problems
pls mention on your order to pack very well and we will take extra care
