Deep Purple were a big success in US right from the start but the first two lps did not do well in UK. "Hush" didn't register and "Kentucky Woman" single wasn't even released in UK.
They did not begin to make waves in UK till the "Concerto for rock group and Orchestra" lp.
2 rehearsals with orchestra. 88 musicians at 9 pounds a pop.

3/ at one point Jack Bruce played with Manfred Mann. I did not know that.
Bought a farmhouse in the Mull of Kintyre (As the McCartney song goes.)

The original 'Concerto' was alser on Tetragamaton label like the first three Mk.1 Purples. There is a box set of three LP being the complete show at the Albert hall inc rehersals. But Karney lad was not forking out £50 for it. |

Allan Price (Animals) is rated best - crissake - and Emerson (spelt "Emmerson") is something like 7 down the list.
