Still stricktly downsising the record collection. I have both stereo & Mono pressings of the first two Pink Floyd LP's. which one would you keep? im thinking the Mono were actually the original deal back then so tells me to keep the Mono.

I’d either keep both or keep the rarest, Can't keep both cos one or two are going to be nothing but ornaments & none are rarest cos they are all recent Pink Floyd Music Re-issues.

Mono Piper is the best mix, superb sound.
Also usually mono mix not much different from stereo, but in the case of "Piper at Gates of Dawn" mono is notably different mix from stereo. (As is the case with SFSorrow,Pepper,Family-doll's house ,Blossom Toes - first and Tomorrow.)
(Even so, I go for the stereo every time.)

Mono mixes are more direct in your face but a narrow sound scape, stereo are more spaced out but laid back, Bass lines seems to be suppressed in comparison to mono. i do like the mono better and do also have a mono/stereo switch on my amp, something that manufacturers way back to the 80's though was no need for anymore.

Ok decided to just keep the Stereo pressings. After all i aint a fan of these two LP's tbh. FLOYD are not a Prog band anyway hence its way off the mark to what i listen to as it is.

For what it's worth Piper is better in Mono to a point. A bit like arguing if stereo or mono Sgt Pepper is best. Stereo is more Psych sounding. Saucerfull Of Secrets is better in stereo as are most recordings from 1968 onwards. If you are going for one copy stereo edges it.
