Billy Richie and his band "1-2-3" PROLONGED Hammond workouts influenced Keith Emerson. Unfortunately 1-2-3 never had the opportunity to release a lp.
However Don Schinn did release 2 lps and he was the other important keys influence on Emerson.
Perhaps it would be interesting to find out the release date for Shinn's first lp. Just possibly it was out beefwhore The Nice - Ars longa Vita Brevis. (Butsomehow I doubt it. I'm thinking maybe '70??)

Shinns first LP was 1969. Emmo influences or not at the time they were not prog as wasnt the first NICE LP. Already outlined abouve Early CLOUDS sound more like THE END 'INTROSPECTION' & FIRE 'THE MAGIC SHOEMAKER' which are not prog either. Lets call them Proto Prog for the sake of argument. Theres a non LP single "MAKE NO BONES ABOUT IT" see what i mean. I think Richie is the singer on it.
DEPARTUERES LP August 1969 ARS LONGA VITA BREVIS November 1968

What's with the hangup of first issues, most of which I imagine were released before you were even born?
Although I possess a fair amount of first issues, my record buying only really began in earnest during the late 70's and early 80's and as a result a sizeable chunk of my collection is on later issue labels such as Vertigo Spaceship, Orange and Green Atlantic, and Deram Red. I still value them highly though, and I think they sound great. They were contemporary to me, and that's the important thing.

How can they be released before i was born you prat. I used to collect 1st issues of what i listen to & i can assure you they are far superior to CD's on vinyl. Ok then you tell me for instance that a Re-issue of BRAIN SALAD SURGERY is better than the 1st issue, You be a fucking liar if you did ..................................... I have pet hates and one of them is people that are older speaking at younger people like they know more than them, utter bollox. There is far more wise & experienced people out there that would run rings around an older person . I can assure you Steve the trouble causer i know far more about Prog that is a guarantee regardless of me being a kid when it emerged. Baggs attempts this game playing on a regular basis

My CD reissue of BSS (Victory records I recall) IS better than my original vinyl (i had to get several pressings of the first cut to get a quiet one, as it was in the oil crisis, so there!!!).
Andr'e, come back FFS. Life's too effin' short to over-react guv'nor..

Had a serious conversation with the wife today told her how i feel & that i have a serious depression which is not healthy & why im not happy with record, Told her they are basically the same as listening to a CD im not happy & never will be because they are not what i loved about old Vinyl they are not original copies. Same with Turntables, told her its just counterproductive buying these Turntables of the era other than what i really want. I however have to promise now that if i sell the rest of the records that is it. Never ever again allowed any records in this house. The foot has been firmly put down.
Im happy with that & im not happy really cos the only options now is basically the way kids play their music, it's not me, nor is it to be taken serious, nothing to own & be proud of owning just a bunch of files. The biggest biggest problem down at the bottom of it is my obsession with 1970's & things of that era im lost without them. Modern tech is totally & utterly not me & i can see even more depression on the horizon. Every direction i take just makes matters worse. Sound quality has always took a back seat over originallity of Equipmet & media. Im just not an Audiophile.
The wife dont mind me doing anything but she wont put up with the constant money wasting, Depression & moods.

I remember times when my Hi-Fi habit brought me more unhappiness than pleasure. Not a good place to be. Listening to music needs to be a release, not another wind-up.

Take your turntables and media to Ukraine THEN cry depression and stress.

I let a lot more LP's go this morning i just kept back 35 of them from five bands that i very first got into. I find it near on impossible to listen to records these days especially with the wife being at home the same days as me now Any other music ill just turn to Spotify with headphones the height of convenience. Not worth the shit for me these days.. lets just call these LP's for old times sake. 9/10 ill always opt for the convenience than the LP's anyway. Funny how im always messing about with a dead format that im constantly trying to break away from but cannot, it always has to be there.

Exactly wot lps you let go, may I be so bold to ask. Swirl Vertigo, Neon artists etc fuck it who cares anymore. Records take up far too much space cos as you know i cannot stand big collections, besides they are now very expensive when you can buy a CD at £6/7 rip it store it away in the bx room.
