I still value quite a few of my 80s records. I think many were underrated. For instance, The Christians,Terence Trent D’Arby, Aztec Camera, ABC, Billy Ocean, Human League, Talking Heads, Dire Straits, Chris Rea, Suzanne Vega
Also some great 80s albums from perennial artists, such as Thriller, Graceland, Born in the USA, Tango In The Night, Enlightenment.
I don’t think I will ever leave this decade. It was a huge part of who I am.

I liked the more raw recording techniques of the early 80's plus the livelier tone back then. Too many albums but werstie's post above hasd a lot of them. Got to add depeche Mode, Siouxsie & Banshees and Hounds Of Love (side 2 is a favourite) Yello, Tangerine Dream (still going), Steve Hillage (And Not Or/For To Next), Jon & Vangelis, Gary Numan, Thomas Dolby, Queen (yes, really) and many more

Music is the reason why we discuss (and sometimes fight) over the gear!!! Just 'cos we all listen to different eras and genres doesn't mean our tastes suck. Fuck, this hobby and music interest is so bloody tribal it's untrue Tell ya summat westie, finally went to the local Accuphase-fest today after weeks of debating. Glad I went (Gawd their stuff is beautiful if way out of my league and their internals have been improved in stages over the last 50 years - they provide specs too which third parties have verified so don't hide what they're doing or not). I chatted to two visitors and one (a DIY bod who used to work at Nytech with tales to tell which I remember too) had two A4 sheets of track lists he wanted to play. To my eternal shame I only recognised one track by Yello (a later one I think) and none of the others.. brought home how totally out of date I am now

I’m afraid I just can’t get into Prog. 80s is far more me. I agree it’s a far poorer forum without Andre. I’ve always enjoyed his posts everywhere.
