Misison seemed to go backwards in the mid/late 80s. For me at least, tne likes of 737R 770F and 780 Argonaut were pants. Not sure when they went from good to bad. You’d think any new speaker would have to better its predecessors.

Out of experience the ones you dont like are the ones that are not rubbish However the last one i thought was good were the original '780'/'781'/'782'. These were available in standard Mission & Cyrus.. Now going back to the '737' you mentioned, they altered this a few times with Tweeters, I always like the early ones with Audax tweeter. But its hard to talk about different models cos they did so many different versions of the same thing, re introducing the same model somewhere down the line.

I have a little soft spot for the Mission 752 Freedom. Lovely speakers. But they are from the 1990's period.

I had a pair of those. Nicely made and not a bad speaker.

Westie, have you also tried the 751 variants? S. Never, Any good? Nicely made speakers. The earlier version with the metal tweeters can sound a bit bright.

Time heals a zitty waspy metal film tweeter rather well. The Aerogel bass-mid unot was a good one I think but the 752 *when new* had two issues which didn't really balance - the first was the zitty tweeters which will have mellowed down by now if not died if they were ferro-fluid damped (I can't remember if they were). the other issue was that the 752 box was as big for the driver as they could get away with and ported to boot, so the bass was underdamped and could 'OOM' all too easily. Pull 'em out from the wall and th ebass improves but the highs get worse and vice-versa. In comparison, you plonked the 753 down a hands breadth or so from a back wall, sit 3 - 4m back and off you go!
As I said above, time can mellow a wayward (when new) tweeter, so the above new findings probably don't apply now at over thirty years old. The Freedom versions put in a smoother tweeter and all the magic disappeared, so work that out.....

I just found the tweeter to be a bit low. It affected image height, which is important to me. I might’ve preferred the non freedom with the tweeter on top. Very well made though.

I just found the tweeter to be a bit low. It affected image height, which is important to me. I might’ve preferred the non freedom with the tweeter on top. Very well made though. Godawful finish apart, I wonder if you'd love the first issue TDL RTL2 as much as I do? 6" bass-mid (carefully flared cobex cone?) and small diameter Vifa tweeter with a simple crossover (three element from memory - bass coil and resistor-cap tweeter network). The tweeter response had a gentle 'lift' in the cymbal region but somehow, the 'phasing' of the system at crossover meant that if you stood up, ALL of the soundfield came up with you, the tweeter didn't 'detach' from te mids as it does with B&W's for instance. Some peeps have re-veneered or even tiled the externals to hide the bubble-wrap plastic veneer. You used to be able to get them for well under a ton but maybe not now. Other RTL's were interesting especially the 3 after the sucked out mids were corrected with a resistor change on the crossover, but the 2 was 'the one.'
TDL did a mk2 'SE' version which *looked* so much better, but they copied the AE109 and all but removed the hf, padding the tweeter right down severely. bringing the tweeter up may have interfered with the upper mids a bit, smearing the sound so the cap may have to have been altered, but it was a long time ago and I can't remember how we did it. They tried to promote a properly wood veneered model with carbon fibre/kevlar? type black cone for double the price but again, the magic wasn't quite there as I recall.

They are probably too cheap in price for them to be taken seriously, I’d like to hear them at some point,

Ther was a lovely black Campion on eBay last night with phono stage for just £350. It did have a minor potential issue but I was stil tempted. It’s gone now.
