Arrived today, looks nice but I don’t have a deck for it yet. Usually fatal for me in that it will get sold if I don’t get something quick. So many decks, arms, preamps and power amps have ended up sold because I’ve not waited until,I had something to use them with. Let’s hope I’m more patient this time. I wanted to try this arm because it’s a dual pivot design and I’ve never come across that before. image web hostingWhich version is that? I dont recognise the collar around the back of the head shell!

It’s a late mk2. Apparently they had a collar fitted to cover the pin that holds the headshell to the arm tube, I took it out of the box and the dual pivot bearing idea sure is weird. The arm just kinda floats within the outer bearing housing.

Westie, What interconnect are you using on that Magni 2? S. Just one of those Kelvin Ones.

Just one of those Kelvin Ones. Do those Kelvin Interconnects have a sound signature of their own? S. Probably a little soft but benign and quite revealing. I preferred them to Rega Couple if that’s any indicator. I’d still prefer SSC over them but not by much.

Wot a tit! I ordered a 20mm acrylic base THE EXACT SAME SIZE AS MY DECK. Only I seem to have been SLIGHTLY OUT ON TNE MEASUREMENTS!

Well the only consolation is that I ordered the smaller size and paid that price. I then requested it being cut down to a bigger size than they started with! They did that without quibble, so I got it for about £50 delivered,
I think I must’ve used the “knob measure” from the bedroom with the fake inches on it,

Not sure of it’s the extra acrylic isolation but my music is sounding pretty spiffing today. Can’t remember it being this authoritative before, Loving the music today.

Giving the JVC a spell in charge today. I think it’s an amp that loads of people would love.

I keep coming back to it because it has an effortless way of playing loud without ever sounding “loud”. I think it plays more “flat” in terms of frequency response than most Brit amps. I’m strangely very fond of it. Never heard those Technics amps properly. They sat in our hifi shop ignored and unused because everyone “knew” Jap amps were no good lol.
