Had to endure GAVIN & STACEY Christmas special. I have to laugh cos they all remind me of my family & cronies living like clampits I ofc keep my distance from them |

I ended up falling asleep again around 7pm to 10pm so I missed all the stuff my wife was watching. I’m now watching a documentary about Black Sea shipwrecks whilst she’s asleep.
I’m just pleased she has no interest in soaps or reality TV. I really couldn’t cope with those.

I hate all reality TV but Gogglebox is a particular hate. Seeing fat, gormless plebs rolling around on their sofas watching trash TV is just too much.
That I’m a celebrity crap with those two Geordie numbskulls is just as bad.

I'd just been watching the 1976 story 'Hand of Fear' which was Sarah-Jane Smith's last and which I don't much like and Stephen Thorne's over-acting at the end aside, it was in a different league!!! It took me decades for my ASD to really 'get' Tom Baker, but I think the man was genius in the role if carefully directed. I think Ncuti has some of that charisma, but he's not going to get the scripts or the direction to do it well I think. BIG publicity pics showing him wearing a skirt and fluffy orange 'girly' top, yet in the episode last night (I can't say 'story' as I don't think there was one), it was hardly shown, so what the effin' point... NOT the show I watched as a kid and I feel the young people today are short changed - same with the muzak they consume and spit out later, to be forgotten.. (Gawd I sound like my parents here).
TV hardly on otherwise. There's a freeview station showing three sites in Sth Africa - nature reserves - where rangers go out looking out for the wildlife they see (big cats, elephants, hyenas and so on) and you know, that channel is great for winding down before going to bed, or at least it was when it was on around and before midnight...

I gave up too, although it wasn’t because of the new Doctor who seems ok. That said, you have to wonder who would’ve got the part if the BBC were just choosing on merit rather than race and gender. The only way a black, gay transvestite was going to be beaten to this role was if he was up against a black, gay/trans disabled actor. I just can’t believe nobody is calling this out as discrimination. It’s painful to witness the silence and acceptance.
It’s always blacks too. What about Chinese, or all the other races? Wasn’t it enough to have a black, transgender sidekick? I saw one article claiming this was “inclusive” when in fact it automatically excludes white, straight actors. There is nothing “inclusive” about discrimination. People in the future will look back and wonder how on Earth this sort of thing was allowed. Lord knows how far it will have got by then. I’m sure the Next Bond will be black. The following one will be black and female or even trans, probably chasing down villains in a gadget-laden wheelchair. Will we have a black, trans, disabled Jesus or Mary Magdalene? Or even God? I can already hear the Lord’s Prayer: “Our non-binary parent, who art in heaven…”

I tried watching Vera but I gave up due to a mix of a rubbish, low-budget script and the same racial discrimination in casting that I’ve highlighted above. How come every high authority figure in the police is black?
