Westie: One of my all time fav cartridges was the Pickering 'XLZ-7500S' with the matching PLZ pre amp. Low output MM Cart.. His has a wooden box, mine was a maroon velvet box likeone of those posh boxes you get womens necklaces in, like those in the background AKG 'P8ES Super Nova was a good MM too. I think this is the one they used to rave about in Vickers hifi. I had a watch for it on eBay for a while but never found one. I’ll keep an eye out again, thanks. I think I’m over my cartridge fitting phobia. Breaking the OC9 last year really affected me and made me reluctant to mess with them. Didn’t stop me buying but I couldn’t pull the trigger and fit any of them unless they were inexpensive. PS. I love that guys videos. Shane has posted some of him before too.

So we reach Friday and I’ve had no replies form Scott Nangle. Nor have I had the OC9 XML I paid for almost a week ago. He’s also got his phone switched off permanently. I’ve just emailed him informing him I will be contacting the card company 10am Monday unless he provides shipping proof or a full refund, I will also be visiting other forums to share my experience and have told him this will happen. Let’s see whether I actually have to pursue a chargeback refund of whether he does the right thing and supples the item or refunds me.

There was a whole thread on Hoffman for customer issues with Scott a few years ago. Got pulled. They are scared of litigation being yanks I think. So you can't criticise bad sellers on there. Some people had issues with LP orders on AOS. I do wonder if he has stock of half the things listed. I've seen Lps listed there I know are OOP or not yet released. Seems to always have lower prices.

I read that thread today and saw it was closed. I’m covered under law, so I won’t be out of pocket. You’d think he’d see the inevitable and refund if he doesn’t have stock. He’s just making another enemy who will spread the word in any way he can to everyone who will listen. Not a good business model.
I will also be contacting MasterCard and providing them with enough evidence to hopefully have his card facilities withdrawn. Let’s see him do business without that,

I emailed Scott on Friday advising him a that if I didn’t have a response by 10am today I’d raise a Section 75 chargeback request. He’s still playing the silent game, and has his phone permanently switched off.
I’ve now started the ball rolling but the process can take a maximum of 120 days. I was advised it will probably be a lot shorter,
I just wanted to highlight that this guy has taken £408 from me and isn’t looking to return this or send me the goods. This is fraud, I advise anyone even thinking of buying from him to go elsewhere.
Once I have settled this issue and got my money back, I will be attempting to have his MasterCard and Visa services removed. When there is so much evidence of fraud online and so many people have had to go to these lengths, he shouldn’t be allowed to use either Visa or MasterCard to trade. There is a lot of evidence linking a Scott to fraud online, I plan to get her it as evidence and pursue him. This guy needs His “oxygen” turning off. No card facilities, no opportunity to defraud online,
I’ve done enough for today, but I have his address and will try his local trading standards tomorrow. He’s robbed the wrong guy this time.

I have been warning people to be cautious but your experience has just confirmed my suspicions about SN. It's possible you will get your cartridge eventually as likely he only ordered it after you paid him. I doubt he actually carries much stock.

I think you’re probably right. He must know full well that the chargeback scheme takes ages and he can order and then send out. If that happens, I’m fine and dandy with the result, although I will never trust him with my money again. Moreover, my experiences with Alex Scott Nangle, Scott Nangle Audio and SVINYL will stay here for others to read. I will also not censor anyone else’s reports if they want to add to th thread with their experiences.
There has to be a place where people who have had bad service or been defrauded can speak out.

The 1042 worked in an RB300 a treat or at least it did with arm slightly 'tail down.' Make of that what you will Is it as good as MMs get then? The one I had was actually in an RB300....on a Rock and then a Xerxes. I never thought it even held its own agianst an AT-F5. An OC7 and OC9 blew away the F5. My attempts to try MMs are largely to see if they really are inferior to coils. If a 1042 is near the top of the tree, I already have that answer. I had an ATF5 on a Linn Axis / basic Plus years ago. One of the coils failed. Bought an AT95 as stopgap before getting a 1042. The 1042 in that arm sounded by far the best. Into an Audiolab 8000A. It depends what you are using. I don't believe it sounds so good in an RB300. Bought another for my Gyro/RB300 and assumed it was faulty, dealer exchanged it for an Ortofon MC15 Super which sounded quite a bit better. The 1042 really sung on the Linn arm.

An update of sorts: I finally got my full refund from the card company after filing a fraud report. It was quickly followed by two emails from Scott:
First one said
“ RESENT EMAIL
shiipped & returned by carrier tracking was sent by text + email please advise to reship rgds scott”
Second one said
“ PLEASE ADVISE to reship your order andrew in stock + ready to ship rgds scott”
I simply replied and pointed out that there had been no missed delivery, no card, no email and no text. I asked for proof of tracking. I reminded him that he had ignored my emails and ultimatum and that I had therefore claimed a refund from the card company.
So far, we have radio silence again.

At least you got your money back. How this guy is still in business I can't say. Been a lot of bad reports over a number of years.

Online sellers seem to be able to get away with murder. The police don’t even want to know with proven fraud. It doesn’t help when forums silence any whistle-blowers either.

Only thing I suggest is report him to his local Trading Standards.

I had another email from him yesterday, asking me to cancel the fraud report and saying he has the item ready to post. Unsurprisingly nothing to back up his claim that it was sent and returned as undelivered by the courier.
I simply told him that the time to talk to me was when he had my money and I was emailing asking what had happened to my cartridge. I said I’ve moved on, which I have. In the intervening time, I’ve had an OC9XML and an OC9XSH as well as half a dozen other cartridges.
Suffice to say I will never buy from Scott Nangle Audio again and I urge anyone considering doing so to read the account of my experiences in this thread.

There is a recent thread on SNVinyl and his practices at Hoffman Forum. Been allowed to run this time. He is a member there. @daytona600
