Saw that the other day as just a 7CD set £50 Same old fucking bollox again mixing CD & LP in one set. What pissed me with the last Box set. |

Um Trouble for me is spending money on two double LP's for the 90's gigs i have zero interest in. Gets my goat all this Box set bull shite. Should sell live gig separate. Not everyone can afford sets & not everyone wants it all. Took me a lot of years to even Accept ELP post 'BSS'. Still take it of leave it now. Im shocked they aint even included the full 'MAR Y SOL 72' Gig in with it. ffks that one of the best ELP recorded gig from back then. |

It's the marketeers target-marketing and maxing-out a dwindling opportunity. The ELP generation are dying off, and the one's that remain are likely to be comfortably well-off boomers ready to part with their cash. It's all about making hay while they can.

Ok i dont think i can let this pass me by, ive decided im gonna buy the vinyl edition & split it, Someone will buy the two 1992 LP's im sure of it. Cant live with that shit box anyway so no sleep lost splitting the three albums away. Just hoping the CAL JAM '74 sound quality is good & its the full set in order.

I've got the California Jam bootleg on vinyl. I've checked the tracklisting of the boxset and it all seems to be there plus 'Toccata'.

There's not 2 albums from 1992, only 1. That's a misprint in some quarters.
The 1992 set is the Royal Albert Hall one. The Phoenix gig is from 1997. But.....why would you want to split the set up?

Cos i hate ELP in the 90's & i mean hate, rather listen to Steps. plus that box looks shite. LOL.. Same if i came across the FANFARE set id lob the set in the bin & keep the ITALY LIVE 73 records

LOL. See things like this are not really Proper LP's they are just something that comes out to keep fans happy, i dont treasure them like i would an LP from their original discography. To me these are just something put on a slab of plastic to play so taking a box set apart & just keeping what i want is no problem for me. Works both way, the industry put together a whole bunch of shit in a box set to cash in. The biggest joke for me was the FLOYD IMMERSION 'DSOTM' with the scarf & marbles. I just hold no value to these thing. LOL
As a strict rule i said i would never buy anything like this on Vinyl cos its shelf space i dont have & as mentioned above they are of no real importance to own on Vinyl, as worthless to me as CD. However i also have no intentions having a CD player anymore hence i dont really have any option but to buy them on Vinyl...

Just been looking at the track listing. The Olympic Stadium, Quebec Aug '77. Looks to be 'WORKS LIVE'. Which is good for me as 'IN CONCERT' was never part of the present Vinyl Re-issue catalogue.
