My father is currently using a Rotel RB-1590. It's very heavy at almost 40KG! Time will tell, if it turns out to be a keeper or loser!

Most of these amps are relics of a bygone age and surviving Macintosh, Luxman and Accuphase amps like this are silly money now (maybe they always were and 'we' had greater spending power to accommodate them).
Be careful of old battleships though, as they still have ageing caps and some resistors, as well as possible now bad solder joints. Old Accuphase amps have a handful of critical caps that should be changed I gather as well as some 70's ones suffering hideously noisy switches and controls for some reason. A borderline battleship Sony 5650 V-FET integrated (we loved it when new) went the way of many of its siblings a few years back when a/some critical diodes' solder jounts went bad, taking out the all but unobtanium and expensive output stages and the speakers it was driving. Such a tragic shame, but it was forty years old and used daily. many ic's and I think transistors for old Yamaha high end amps may be impossible to get now too.

I’m still lusting after an Accuphase. I wonder if it will better the JVC. There are four caps that usually need replacing (two are in the phono stage). They are all Muse ones. Not easy to find quality replacements for, but there is a PFM thread I can refer to,

Not easy to find quality replacements for, but there is a PFM thread I can refer to, Like Luxman but probably rather more exclusive in the UK currently due to the current distributors, Accuphase is Luxury with a capital L. Absolutely gorgeous to me and the sound is fine - big and smooth - as you'd expect (better than a 'hidden' AB NAD which performs superbly if not seen? I really don't know). The CD player I briefly used has a similar luxury feel (but so do the upper Yamaha ones at half the price with a silk-like drawer motion)
My local dealer claims the sound changes all over the shop as a new one 'beds in.' You lot know what I think of that, but it worries me if the design is so fussy of the components used.. The finish and overall 'luxury vibe' of the brand makes Naim at similar and higher price look seriously rough presentation and a bit tacky though - and current Naims are far more substantially constructed to me than the Olive and earlier stuff...

I sold an Accuphase'202' for £150. in the 80's before the idiotic price tags came along.

I traded in a lot of kit & spent a fair chunk of cash to get my Luxman but I'm very pleased with the sound & consider it a very worthwhile investment + I was after a one box solution & this fulfils it admirably
