Wish i could see the ALLIANCE in the flesh. Are they REGA Pattern & point to point distance [222mm] ? Yep, and they are pretty much exactly the same as mine apart from the bearing housing shape. I get what you mean about them being more expensive arms but the Alliance is cheaper than Rega RB330. I’ve never heard one but I’d eat my Slee if it didn’t beat a Rega, this new breed are more musical and less “showy” sounding than the old Silver arms were. One may not show up, but I just wanted to flag them up just in case.

I meant more expensive looking than the REGA sorry which will down grade the looks of the deck & cartridge. Just would'nt look right with the REGA deck anyway imho.. Im gonna just stick a REGA on it what ever comes up first at a low price fuck it its making me too anxious now this deck im getting that feeling again where i want to scrap the whole idea of finishing this deck. Honestly i do really feel like my head is gonna explode.

I wouldn’t have waited long either because once it’s on and playing music, any tiny cosmetic flaw or inconvenience is academic.

Too right, Just look how many people bought a Rega, a nice integrated and a musical pair of speakers back in the 80s and just lived with them. Way more than those who bought more expensive kit and went on a 30+ year “journey”.
How many other “journeys” would you undertake in life if they told you up front, it probably would never end, would likely cause more dissatisfaction than pleasure, and would cost you money regularly for thirty years or more?
You’re doing the right thing here in putting together the sort of system you wish you’d stuck with. Now is the time to finish it rather than change tack. It’s a tool for your records. It won’t cost you any more money, it won’t damage your records and you won’t struggle to replace the stylus,

Stick with your instincts and plan A. You have very little left to spend and you may well recoup most of it from the Rotel. A bargain Rega arm, a VM95 and a handful more records. Then you have your favourite music on the best format, a musical but not forensic system amd a ready supply of low cost styli. I don’t see a downside.

What's wrong with a Technics now? It's black It's solidly made and finished the way you like The motor is NOTHING like the tightly over-servo'd one the previous quartz models had and if anything, has a smoother pole working as my Dual 701 Pabst made motor does The arm is improved over the 1210mk2 era and is wonderful with mid priced AT's (AT540 and 740 should be great). I think mass is low enough to more than work with your favoured 95-ED too and this latter will be the sonic bottleneck if there is one. It's new, so there'll be a warranty on it. What's against - Oh I know, I'd be having one if buying today from scratch (excuse the pun). Nothing under a Rega 6 interests me these days and I loved the SL1500's I've had in the past despite the massy fixed height arm, dicky switches on one that don't stay 'cleaned' for very long and the discovery the lid MUST be removed - sounded amazing with a Supex 900E fitted...
Just 'cos Marco made a huge song and dance about his back in the day shouldn't put people off, although all these massive 'improvements' came back to bite him and everyone who copied him in time, as none of them gave a sh*t about how the deck was designed electronically and the one person outside of Technics who did have some understanding (Timestep's Dave Cawley) had a massive falling out some time back - I've not checked to see if they've made it up as yet.

Andre has never liked them. He sees them as a DJ deck and would never buy one. They may be fine for others but not for everyone. That’s the thing about Hi-Fi, your truth, or mine just don’t work in the same way for others.

I laughed when Technics brought out the 1200G which pretty much put most of the expensive mods to bed. The current Technics decks other than the Mk7 are not designed for DJ work though I'm sure the 1200G does a fine job in a high end DJ set up. They are primarily aimed at audiophiles. The new 100C (budget) model removes all the DJ things like pitch control. My view is this has gotta be more cost effective than buying many decks to mod and abandoning the projects half way through. Then sit back and listen to music without OCD stress.

I can see why that would be an option for many, however I don’t think Andre likes the looks and he has a problem getting larger single outlays past The Chancellor. It comes back to the “what’s right for you might not be right for someone else” maxim.
Not sure how I feel about the Technics decks myself. I guess I have an open mind, I did like the ease of use from my Sony pS-6750. If I was buying new from scratch, id likely consider them.

Im gonna have to buy another turntable. This is giving me trouble again with the pitch. Its been totally rebuilt & was ok for a bit but acting up again. old DC motor decks like this are wank. Pitch drift will probably not happen again for weeks but i hate unreliability, why i spend so much rebuilding stuff. Clearly not working with this deck. It will be the mains that is causing it but it seems more of an issue with this deck, however it does have a crap weak motor fitted to it.
Never had any trouble what so ever with pitch on old AC motor driven deck.

They look shite 3. DJ Industry standard Don't give a crap how good they might sound even though there ain much left of the original deck when the sheep have finished throwing money at them.

Do you still have that Rega? If so, you could always get an arm for it. I’m guessing you’d rather have something older though. Always liked Duals but I know very little about them.
