Well i was listening to a record today & the deck just went dead, Strobe light still on, Pressed 45rpm, it started back up, back to 33.3rpm still dead. Now i fully rebuilt the boards in this deck with exception for the speed change switch reason being i couldnt find a replacement. The other thing was the fine trim pots inside again i couldnt get the values in the miniture versions. Now the pitch blows hot & cold on this deck, it can be ok for weeks then starts drifting. I managed to get some yesterday so i thought id fit them today while im inside it, pitch runs perfect now absolutely no drifting where as before even when it ran ok i could see a fine drift at times on the strobe platter even after a spray. Never ever buy another DC deck ever, they are shite in every respect. I cringe when i see people retrofitting AC deck with that crap, i realy do So thats that aspect sorted. Now the Deck stopping running on its own i obviously pointed the finger at the speed change switch, Stripped it out & sprayed down a little hole, its a sealed unit so nothing else i can do. Seems to have worked for the time being so im now on the look out ASAP for a replacement switch. You dont need this bollox on a Sunday do ya LOL.. Back to listening Once you’ve got that sorted it should be trouble free for decades

When i took the old trimmer out i removed the top for a look, they were tarnished to high heaven. The ones fitted in the picture are perfect now. Got six spares not that ill need them LOL.

Switch arrived. I know something it's not a C&K that i initially ordered. Now thats not a problem you may ask but to me it is, i now dont know if its a silver plated contacts or not. Its all about long term reliability, the whole reason i totally rebuild things.

Try doing that to some of this stuff full of surface mounts when something fails in a few years. They will all be bin fodder.

Aye
Had a close look at the Pins & they are silver plated so im assuming the internal contacts are too.

You’d assume so. Harder to have two different contact surfaces you’d have thought.
